1. Understanding Peptide Purity

Purity is the single most important quality metric for research peptides. It is measured via High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), which separates compounds based on their chemical properties and quantifies the target peptide as a percentage of total detected material. For research applications, a minimum purity of 98% is generally considered acceptable, with 99%+ being the gold standard.

2. Reading a Certificate of Analysis

A proper COA should contain: compound name, sequence, and molecular formula; batch number and synthesis date; HPLC purity percentage and chromatogram; mass spectrometry data confirming molecular weight; testing laboratory name and accreditation; and test date.

Red Flag

Be cautious of suppliers who issue their own in-house COAs without independent third-party verification. Kilo. Research uses only independent accredited laboratories for all testing.

3. Lyophilization & Storage

  • Store lyophilized peptides at -20°C in a frost-free freezer
  • Protect from light and moisture
  • Keep in original sealed vials until ready for use
  • Once reconstituted, most peptides stable for 28 days refrigerated

4. Sourcing Research Peptides: What to Look For

  • Independent third-party COA with HPLC and mass spec data
  • 99%+ verified purity minimum
  • Lyophilized form with proper sealing
  • Cold-chain shipping
  • Clear research-only policies and legal compliance
  • Transparent company identity and contact information
